There are plans to introduce mandatory drugs and alcohol testing for EASA initial Class 1 medical examinations, possibly as early as the start of 2019. Hence, it may be introduced between the time you book and the date you attend for your medical – EASA will only give 21 days to implement amended regulations.
This will result in additional time and cost. We are not sure of the exact amount as the final details of the tests mandated are not available to us. As soon as we know, precise costings will be provided and you will incur an extra charge at the time of your medical.
